Based in the West Midlands, Distinto specialises in classic, modern classic, performance and distinguished vehicles, with particular expertise in sourcing exceptional examples from Japan and other international markets.
The company was established by M. Fiazan — known as Fizz — following many years spent building his own collection.
Growing up through the 1980s and 1990s, Fizz developed an early fascination with the cars that defined those decades: from the turbocharged machines of the Group B era to the increasingly exotic road and supercars of the 1990s.
A career in real estate management eventually provided the opportunity to begin collecting seriously. Early acquisitions included cars such as the Ford Escort RS Cosworth and Toyota Corolla GT AE86 — examples of which remain in the collection today.
An appreciation for Alfa Romeo soon followed. The elegant proportions and engineering character of the marque led to numerous 105-series and GTA-inspired cars, forming the beginnings of a collection that would later encompass Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and other significant marques.
Looking Beyond the UK
Finding the right car has never simply meant finding one that happens to be for sale.
In pursuing particular models, colours, specifications and levels of originality for his own collection, Fizz increasingly began looking beyond the UK market. Cars were sourced from Europe, the Far East and particularly Japan, in both right- and left-hand drive.
Japan became an important part of that journey.
Its enormous domestic car culture, fascinating specifications and potential to uncover carefully preserved examples opened up opportunities that simply did not exist within the UK market alone. Over time, international sourcing became an integral part of Distinto's expertise.
Fizz explains:
“I would often know or dream of exactly what car I wanted — sometimes down to the colour and specification — yet no suitable example would be available in the UK. Looking internationally changed that completely.
“When buying imported cars myself, I also realised how much I valued accurate information, transparency and someone who genuinely understood why the details mattered. Distinto grew from the idea of providing other enthusiasts with the standard of service I would want to receive as a collector.”
